Firstly, I apologize for the delay in updating this blog. It can be a lot to update the IG, FB, and this blog.
But there's some good news since the last update (my first market). Since then, we've been to 4 more markets - the three Easter markets at Discovery Bay, and the Easter market at the Pulse in Repulse Bay. It's been fun meeting new people and seeing what they like and stop to look at. It's also been nice sharing my story and seeing the looks on their faces when I tell them I make them myself. Unfortunately, the market that was scheduled for this Sunday (9 May), has been cancelled, but hopefully it's just an aberration in the fight against the pandemic here in Hong Kong. The next one is scheduled for 13 June (the week before Father's Day).
Some good feedback from the first market was that people really wanted to see Hong Kong-related fabrics and designs. So, I put together a few and now there are 4 Hong Kong related fabric designs.
There was more good feedback with regards to expanding the things I make. I still want to be focusing mainly on bow ties, but these other products can be for people who are hesitant to wear bow ties but still want a fun design. I've started making twisty headbands and pre-tied bow ties. I'm finalizing the design and process for pet bow ties too (as there's been so many requests for those). There are also some neck gaiters (or buffs, if you prefer), with the Hong Kong designs as well as some other designs I've been toying around with printing as fabric for bow ties.
Thanks for everyone's support and we'll hopefully be out at more markets this year!
On November 8, we had our first market at the Handmade Market in Discovery Bay. It was a bit nerve-wracking, but the weather was pleasant. My lovely assistant helped me set up (and decorate the chalkboard). So many friends came to visit, which was amazing! A lot of people walked by and asked about them. I understand that maybe not everyone wants a bow tie, but they could appreciate the different fabrics and designs. I even sold a few. My first customers were so kind and shared some photos and video clips.
Unfortunately the market originally scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled, but hopefully the one for December 6 is good to go.
Thanks to everyone who came to check out the bow ties!
I've been playing around with getting some fabrics printed and they came in last week. I'm looking forward to making some fun bow ties out of these. And expanding the durian collection as well.
Just kidding, I've made some already but I haven't taken any pictures of them yet.
And thanks to Brad for the idea for the controller themed fabric!
Hi everyone, I'm finally getting around to fleshing this website out a bit. It's taken a while partly because I don't know what I'm doing, partly because I've been low on time, and also partly because I'm a bit shy about it.
I was registered for the Handcrafted market that was supposed to have been taking place at this moment (October 11), but unfortunately with the unstable situation regarding the pandemic, it was cancelled. I'm signed up for three other markets (Nov 8, Nov 22, and Dec 6) so hopefully those go through.
In the meantime, I'd been trying to make a bunch of bow ties for the market this weekend that never took place. That's OK though, I can still show some pictures. I made a few holiday themed ones, so check them out.
Here are a few other ones I've made. I'll be putting up way more pictures soon.
